This years edition marks the major gathering of the fintech industry. It will take place from September 8 to 11 at the Jio World Centre in Mumbai. The focus of the festival is on the phase of digital finance and financial technology.

The theme for GFF 2026 is “Potential to Impact: Agentic AI, Tokenisation, Quantum – Trusted, Connected, Global Systems for Inclusive Finance.” This theme reflects the growing interest in technologies that could transform payments, banking, investment, financial infrastructure and access to services.

AI Tokenisation and Quantum Take Centre Stage

One of the topics at GFF 2026 will be agentic artificial intelligence. This type of AI allows systems to perform tasks and make decisions with a level of independence. For India’s digital payments ecosystem this development holds importance. Reports suggest that India is working on frameworks that may allow AI agents to handle low-value UPI transactions without needing users to approve each payment manually. Such progress could lead to models for automated commerce and digital financial services.

Tokenisation is another topic. This technology lets sensitive financial or asset data be represented digitally. It opens up possibilities in payments, securities and financial markets. At the time quantum technology will spark conversations about future computing power, cybersecurity and how financial systems can evolve.

Major Global Fintech Gathering

GFF 2026 aims to attract a range of participants from the fintech sector. These include investors, regulators, banks, fintech companies and technology providers. The official platform for the event lists important institutions as partners. These include the Reserve Bank of India SEBI, IFSCA and PFRDA.

Mumbai at the Centre of Fintech Innovation

Holding GFF in Mumbai strengthens the city’s role as one of India’s important financial centres. The event is expected to support dialogue between companies and international firms. These discussions may help build partnerships explore markets and create cross-border financial products.

The emphasis on trusted and connected financial systems shows a broader shift in the fintech sector. The movement has moved beyond digitisation. Now the focus is on financial infrastructure. This kind of infrastructure supports -border payments, automated services and new forms of digital assets.

Prime Minister Modi’s involvement adds weight and international visibility to the gathering. He is scheduled to visit Gujarat and Maharashtra on September 8. His programme in Mumbai includes the inauguration of GFF 2026.
