A big water pipe that runs under Mahim Causeway in Mumbai suddenly broke on 10 February 2026. This caused a lot of problems with the water supply in important areas on the western side of the city. The water pipe break led to a lot of water leaking everywhere. So the people in charge had to turn off the water in the section of the water pipe to stop things from getting worse and to stop wasting more water. The water pipe in question is an underground water pipeline that runs beneath Mahim Causeway, in Mumbai.
The people who fix roads and water in Mumbai from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation did a job when they got calls about water not coming out strong and roads flooding, near the Mahim Causeway. The Mahim Causeway is an important road that connects the middle of Mumbai to the western parts and when it got damaged it was a big problem. The water did not come out and the roads were flooded,. It was hard for people to drive because the repair people had to block some of the lanes to fix the Mahim Causeway.
The areas that got hit the hardest by the water supply problem are Khar West, Bandra West and some parts of Santacruz. People who live in these areas had water coming out of their taps sometimes and sometimes not at all during the afternoon. A lot of homes found that they did not have any water coming out of their taps and they did not even get a warning about it. This made a lot of people including people who live in these areas and businesses that need water to operate.
Some people who are in charge of the housing societies and local store owners talked about how bad the timing of this water supply problem’s. They are worried because it is getting hotter and people need water. The Khar West and Bandra West and parts of Santacruz water supply is a deal, for everyone who lives and works there.
BMC officials said that they are working on fixing the problem. They are using machines and special teams to fix the broken water pipe. The engineers have to dig up the road to get to the part. They will look at the break. Replace the bad part. The city people have also sent trucks with water to areas that need it very badly while they fix the pipe.
The traffic police worked with the BMC teams to make sure the traffic moved smoothly around Mahim Causeway. They had to make some changes, to the traffic flow.. Even with these changes people who were driving to work during the busy hours said they got stuck in traffic. The traffic police told people who drive cars to use roads to get where they need to go. They also said that the traffic will move slowly around Mahim Causeway until the pipeline is fixed and the lanes are open again. The traffic police and BMC teams are trying to fix the pipeline and open the lanes so that the traffic can move smoothly around Mahim Causeway.
The thing that happened has made a lot of people in Mumbai very upset. Local residents and people who work to make the city better are saying that the old pipes and the fact that nobody fixed them when they should have are reasons why these pipes keep failing.
