The Bombay High Court is being really tough on the people in charge of keeping Mumbais air clean. They are saying that it is not okay to ignore the air quality in Mumbai. The court is telling the authorities that they have to do something about the pollution. The court has said some things about the municipal and state agencies because they are not doing a good job of keeping the air clean. Even though they were warned times they are still not following the rules to control pollution. The Bombay High Court is making it clear that the people in charge have to take care of the environment and they cannot just ignore the problem of air quality, in Mumbai.
The High Court is really worried about the air in our city. They are talking about the particles in the air like PM2.5 and PM10 that are making people sick. These particles are way above the limits in many areas. The judges think that all the construction going on the dust from the roads the old cars and trucks that are not well taken care of and the big projects that are polluting the air are all making the problem worse. The High Court says that we all have the right to breathe air it is our basic right according to Article 21 of the Constitution. The court is saying that the people in charge cannot just ignore this problem they have to do something about it. The High Court wants to make sure that the air is clean for everyone because bad air is a threat, to our health.
The court has really gone after the people who are supposed to enforce the rules like the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board. The judges want to know why these groups sometimes take action against people who break the rules even though we have laws that say what should happen. The court pointed out that just giving advice and making plans has not worked, because the people in charge are not actually doing what they are supposed to do so we are not seeing any changes, with the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board.
The court wants the people in charge to keep an eye on construction sites. They have to make sure that the people working on these sites use things that stop dust from getting. If the developers do not follow the rules that help keep our environment clean they will get in trouble. The court also wants the big bosses to take responsibility for what’s happening. If things do not get better these bosses might get in trouble personally. Before this the High Court said that if people do not do what they are supposed to do they might not get paid much or they might even lose their jobs. When we breathe air for a long time it can make us sick with breathing problems, heart issues and we might not live as long as we should. Mumbai is a city with a lot of people and a lot of traffic so it is very bad, for the people who live there especially the kids, the old people and the people who work outside. Some people think that if the courts do not put pressure on the government they will not do anything to stop companies from making the air dirty because they are afraid of them.

They talk about things, like using machines to clean the roads keeping an eye on the mess from construction getting people to use fuels and checking the air quality more often..
