Integrated Transport Network: The proposal involves synchronization of metro, suburban railway, buses, and monorails to allow easy transfer of passengers across different modes.
Advanced Infrastructure Projects: Major projects like the Coastal Road, Virar-Alibaug Corridor, and Worli-Sewri Connector are being developed to decongest traffic and improve connectivity.
Technological Improvements: Launch of the “Mumbai One App,” a common mobility platform, enables passengers to plan, book, and travel on one interface, merging services from 11 public transport operators in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
Navi Mumbai Development Focus
Besides enhancing the infrastructure of Mumbai, CM Fadnavis has focused on the growth of Navi Mumbai as the “third Mumbai.” Projects envisioned are to create an Edutech City with the best international universities and the building of the Navi Mumbai International Airport. The Chief Minister acknowledged the challenges posed by illegal constructions and traffic congestion, attributing them to a six-decade-old backlog. To combat these issues, a new geo-spatial monitoring tool has been introduced to track construction activities in real-time, ensuring compliance with building regulations.
