MUMBAI, July 16: The Central Railway has fixed the railway line in the Karjat–Lonavala ghat section. This is a relief for thousands of passengers. There were problems on this line because of landslides caused by monsoon rains. Now that the line is open some important trains like the Deccan Queen and the Intercity Express are running on time again from July 16. The Central Railway is still working on the railway line.
The problem started when there were heavy monsoon rains. This caused landslides and mud to fall on the railway tracks in the Western Ghats. The Central Railway had to stop some trains to keep the passengers safe. Some trains were cancelled some were sent on a route and some were late. This caused a lot of trouble for people who travel every day.
The people who work for the railway started working day and night to fix the problem soon as it happened. They removed the mud and rocks from the tracks checked if the tracks were safe fixed the damaged parts and made sure the trains could run again. They used machines and special vehicles to do this work even though the weather was very bad.
After checking everything and doing some test runs the railway people said it was safe for passengers to use the second line. So from Thursday the Deccan Queen and the Intercity Express started running on time. Some other trains also started running which reduced the congestion caused by the problems.
Even though the second line is working now the Central Railway is still fixing the line. They are removing rocks making the slopes stronger fixing the drainage system and making the weak parts of the track stronger. They want to make sure there are no problems during the monsoon season. The railway people will only let trains run on the line when they are sure it is safe.
The Karjat–Lonavala stretch is one of the parts of the railway in India. It has steep parts, tunnels, bridges and a lot of rain during the monsoon. Every year the railway people keep an eye on this route. They send teams to check the route do inspections put up barriers to stop rocks from falling and use special systems to predict the weather.
The passengers are very happy that the trains are running on time again. This is especially good for people who travel every day and for business people who use the Mumbai–Pune railway line a lot. Now that the trains are running normally it will be easier for people to travel and the trains will be on time.
The Central Railway has told passengers to keep checking for updates because there might be some speed limits on the trains while they are still working on the line. The railway people want to make sure the passengers are safe and they will keep watching the ghat section during the monsoon season.
The fact that the railway people could fix the problem quickly shows how well they work together even in very difficult conditions. Since it is still raining heavily in Maharashtra the authorities are being very careful to make sure the trains keep running without any problems and to minimize the risks from landslides and bad weather on one of Indias important railway routes. The Central Railway is working hard to keep the Mumbai–Pune rail corridor safe and on time. The passengers are happy with the Central Railway, for fixing the problem and making the trains run on time again.
