In a horror story that unfolded in Turbhe village, Navi Mumbai, on October 8, 2025, a 23-year-old man called Kishore Varak was brutally attacked by a gang of eight people. The assault, which seemed like a normal fight to settle a dispute, turned into a ferocious battle that left Varak and his friends badly injured. Even with timely medical care, Varak died three days after, leading to the charges being escalated from attempt to murder to murder according to the Bharatiya.
The Incident
In the evening of October 8, Vikram alias Vicky Patil had invited Varak and two friends to his house in Turbhe village for a personal problem settlement.
But what was supposed to be a peaceful gathering turned violent instead. Patil, with the help of accomplices Vedant Gharat, Shakil Shaikh, Sanket Lad, Maula, and three others who are still on the run, beat up the victims with cricket bats, fibre rods, cement blocks, and stones. The brutal attack by the assailants left the victims severely hurt. Varak was immediately taken to MGM Hospital in Kamothe, where he was given immediate medical attention. In spite of the best efforts of the medical staff, Varak died due to his injuries on October 11.
Legal Proceedings
The police initially registered a case of attempt to murder based on the complaint filed by Ashutosh Dhurve, another of the assault victims.
But after the death of Varak, the charges were shifted to murder under the BNS. The APMC police have arrested five out of the eight accused, and three are still on the run. Officials are following leads actively to catch the escaped suspects. It emerged that the attack was planned, driven by a previous grudge between the attackers and the victims.
