Mumbai has been witnessing excess rainfall during the month of September. South Mumbai witnessed 586.2 mm rain, which is the third-wettest September here after 2006. In just 48 hours alone, Colaba has seen 222 mm of rain, which is almost half of its yearly average. Some low-lying zones in central and suburban Mumbai, such as Dharavi, Andheri, and Mulund, have been waterlogged as a result of inefficient drainage systems and overflowing stormwater drains.
