A big fire started in the Andheri Industrial Area on Wednesday morning. This happened early when it was still dark. People who work there and those who live nearby were very scared. Luckily nobody got hurt in the fire. The fire was first seen at 3:30 in the morning at a place that makes electrical equipment and packaging material. The fire made a lot of smoke that quickly spread over the area. The Andheri Industrial Area fire was very serious. Caused a lot of worry for people, in the area.
The people in charge of the Mumbai Fire Brigade said that the fire was not too bad but not too good either. They called it a Level-II incident. This means it was moderately serious. The fire department sent a lot of vehicles to the scene. There were least eight fire trucks and some water tankers and rescue vehicles. The firefighters had a time at first. The roads to get to the fire were very narrow. There were also a lot of things, inside the building that could catch fire easily. This made the fire worse when the firefighters first got there.
The workers from the factories nearby were taken out of there for safety reasons. The police put up a barrier around the area so that people could not go in. They also stopped the power supply to the area close by to prevent people from getting shocked and to stop things from getting worse. The fire officials said that they were able to get the fire under control after fighting it for two hours. After that they did some work to cool things down so the fire would not start again. The fire officials were talking about the fire, at the factories. The factories and the fire are what they were focused on.
The fire might have started because of a problem with the electricity. This problem could have been a circuit. The people looking into this are not really sure yet. They will know for sure after they check everything carefully.
The people, in charge of the city are trying to figure out if the building’s still safe. They are also looking at the machines and the things that were stored in the building to see how much damage was done. It looks like the fire caused a lot of damage. The damage is worth a lot of money crores of rupees. The insurance people still have to come and see how money they will give.
People in charge at the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation said that nobody got hurt because the fire happened when the place was closed. The fire did not happen when people were working so that is why nobody got hurt. “If the fire had happened when everyone was at work it would have been much worse ” said a person from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. Now the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation is going to check all the factories and workplaces to make sure they are safe, in case of a fire. They want to make sure these places have working fire extinguishers emergency exits and permission to operate from the fire department.
People who live around there said they smelled smoke for a long time even in the morning. This smoke caused some problems for them. Made the traffic move slower, on the roads nearby. Everything started to get to normal once the fire officials removed the debris and made sure it was safe.
The incident once again highlights the recurring issue of fire safety in Mumbai’s aging industrial clusters. Authorities have urged factory owners to conduct regular electrical maintenance and adhere strictly to fire safety regulations to prevent such incidents in the future.
