Shiv Sena and BJP May Contest Municipal Elections Together in Maharashtra
After days of disagreements, Maharashtra’s ruling allies—BJP and the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena—have decided to consider contesting upcoming municipal corporation elections together, including in major cities like Mumbai and Thane. Sources from Shiv Sena confirmed this development on Tuesday.
The decision comes after a late-night meeting on Monday between Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Both leaders reportedly agreed that the parties would contest the elections as part of the existing Mahayuti alliance.

A Shiv Sena leader said, “There was a positive discussion about contesting municipal elections across Maharashtra, including Mumbai and Thane, together as part of the Mahayuti alliance.”
