Mumbai, August 31, 2026:<\/strong> An eight-year-old boy was killed after an SUV allegedly ran him over while he was crossing a road in Bandra West, Mumbai<\/strong>, on Sunday afternoon. The incident has sparked fresh concerns over road safety and distracted driving in one of the city\u2019s busy residential areas. Police have arrested the woman who was driving the vehicle and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The incident took place on John Baptist Road near Jijamata Garden<\/strong>, with reports placing the accident at around 2:15\u20133:30 pm. The child, identified in police and media reports as Ansh\/Ayansh Gupta<\/strong>, had reportedly gone out to play and was returning home when he attempted to cross the road. An Innova Crysta allegedly struck him while he was crossing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to police, the driver has been identified as 45-year-old Megha Rawal<\/strong>, a Bandra resident. Initial allegations indicate that the vehicle was travelling at excessive speed and that the driver may have been distracted by a phone call.
