Mumbai, June 16: A court made a decision when it said no to bail for a man who is accused of raping a model. The court said that serious sexual assault cases should not be made important because of private settlements or agreements. The court also did not consider a paper that the survivor signed which said she was willing to compromise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The man who is accused asked the court for bail saying that the woman who made the complaint had signed a paper saying that everything was okay now. His lawyers said that this paper showed that things had changed and the court should think about it when deciding about bail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The court said no to this idea saying that rape is a very serious crime against one person and against society as a whole. The judge said that these kinds of cases are not about two people having a problem and they cannot be settled by compromise in a way that affects the court case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The court said that sexual violence is a serious thing and has big legal and social meanings. It said that just because there is a compromise paper it does not mean that the case against the accused is weaker or that he should get bail.
