Than six lakh farmers in Maharashtra are still waiting for help under the states 2017 farm loan waiver scheme. A senior minister told the Maharashtra Legislative Assembly about this during the budget session on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister was answering a question from opposition members. He said that many eligible farmers have not received the promised help under the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Shetkari Sanman Yojana. This scheme was started in 2017 to help farmers who are struggling with debt. The goal is to reduce stress on farmers in the state.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Official data shows that while many farmers have already received loan waivers over six lakh applications are still pending. This is because of problems with paperwork, eligibility issues and technical problems with linking bank records to government databases.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The opposition legislators were very upset about this. They said the government is not doing its job properly and has not kept its promises. They said that farmers are struggling with crop losses changing market prices and rising costs. These farmers cannot afford to wait longer for financial help.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Some lawmakers talked about cases where farmers were eligible. Their payments were delayed because of small mistakes in their paperwork. They demanded that the government clear up these pending cases quickly. They warned that if the government does not act fast it will cause problems for farmers in rural areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The minister told the Assembly that the government is working on these pending cases. He said that committees at the district level have been told to speed up the process and resolve any discrepancies. He said, “We want to make sure that every farmer who is eligible gets the help they were promised.” He also said that the government is working with banks to make the process smoother.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Agriculture is an important issue in Maharashtra, which is one of the biggest farming states in India. Droughts, unseasonal rains and changing prices have hurt farmers incomes over the years. The government has often used loan waivers to help farmers away but some experts question whether this is a good long-term solution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The 2017 scheme was one of the attempts to help farmers with debt. It covered crop loans up to an amount. However there have been problems with implementing the scheme especially when it comes to matching bank records with land ownership details.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Farmers unions are worried about the data. They want the government to be transparent and to set deadlines for helping farmers. Representatives from farming organizations said that many farmers who applied for help in faith are still waiting to hear back about their applications.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The government says it is focused on making changes to help farmers, such as improving crop insurance, irrigation projects and market links. Officials say they are using technology to monitor these programs and to avoid problems in the future.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
