Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport or CSMIA in Mumbai has strengthened its security measures after a threatening input was received by the concerned security agencies. This has resulted in a high level of alertness of the security personnel operating in one of the busiest airports in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to reports, the threat input was received by the central and state security agencies, and following this, the standard operating procedures were initiated. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), the organization responsible for airport security, increased its presence in the domestic and international terminals. More security personnel were posted at the entry points, boarding points, baggage scan areas, and sensitive areas in the airport premises.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Passengers arriving at the airport took longer at security screening whenever there was frisking and screening of their luggage. There was additional screening of hand luggage and containers brought by passengers, as well as vehicles accessing the airport terminals. Passengers were warned by airport authorities to arrive at the airport sufficiently ahead of their flight times in case flight time rescheduling occurs at the last minute.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mumbai Police began patrolling heavily in the vicinity of airports as well as on major routes and public transportation points.
